Found my tropical queen

I am ready for summer,.. for sun, beaches and cool drinks!...
Found the one i was looking for. A all gloss 5512 tropical dial.  The case has seen life. But seems to be unpolished. The pointed crown-guards are still real sharp and edgy!

Comex madness ... what's better then 1....

What's better then 1 NOS Comex torch....???? 5!!!! LOOOOL!

Lanvin Love part 2

Yes.... yesterday was my lucky day.... SALE is a nice time of the year LOOOL! I love that style. Design at it's best. And they do fit sooooo well with vintage Rolex!

Comex madness

Well... i guess i am crazy. But i am ready for summer LOOOOOL!

Beautiful blog about Panerai and shooting watches

A friend send me this link! A great blog with beautiful watches. But even more with great focus on watch photography with a lot of advice and examples. Great... i for sure will learn from it!

Every Rolex tells a story ... 5513 Comex

Here is a fantastic watch. Very rare and from a real nice collector and friend of mine.
A 5513 Comex with a story. I guess a whole lot of them. If only they could tell.
Originally issued in 1972, this watch become the daily partner of a great diver. Who stayed into commercial diving for over 27 years. He worked in all over the North-Sea , but also all over the world. Also at special salvage operations. As at the aftermath of Piper Alpha. Most maybe remember:

But more stories to tell in that watch. Like the salvage of a P3 Orion anti-submarine aircraft, lost off the coast of Oman.
As a lot of salvage operations around the world where done or assisted by Comex divers.
And seems the most famous operation the diver and what participated in is the salvage of the gold bullion of the HMS Edinburgh.

So this watch does not only tell stories... but it is rare also. Also a medium numbers backcase engraving and matte logo dial.
Latest estimates i hear are... that are only about 20-30 left in that configuration. Which makes it far rarer then any Big Numbers 5514. The 5513 Comex with valve is the 'biggest' Comex reference to me. Right in the beginning,.. prototypes. Right in a time when everything was still in development. And divers took tremendous risk to build the industry and society,.. we grew up with.
Big congrats to my friend for this grail watch!

Every Rolex tells a story

Yesterday a friend reminded me about a real great book. As you might have been reading my interest for the storey behind a watch.
Rolex made a book about it.... You should get you copy of it. Toolwatch in a new perspective!
Here are just a view samples.

Softie ;-)

another shot!

Some new style

As stated,... this year i want to put more energy into my watches.
And also start with learning more about the photography and improve. But also try different styles.
Today i worked on 2 images. Nothing special, but they for sure hold a lot of emotion of these great watches.
But still a lot to learn..... day by day!

NOS Comex torch 'SAGITTAIRE'

Found myself another toy... a NOS Comex torch. Love those!!!! The perfect image. A Rolex Comex with the torch. They can be used down to 1000 ft. And also suitable for diving with oxy-helium atmospheres.

2010 wishes... what are yours?

Well almost 2010... a new decade. The time of reflection and new goals. New dreams, new wishes. What are yours? What do you wish for in 2010?

Here are mine. I have been living in 2 worlds for the last years. My world of design, branding, creative concepts and my passion of making books. And my passion for vintage and vintage Rolex as addiction for the last 3.5 years. But also cool vintage design like furniture etc.
My big passion are 'stories' and telling stories through my work. This is also what attracts me in vintage Rolex. Every watch tells it's own story. I want to tell those stories and add something to it.

I hope 2010 will be the start of melting the worlds together. To combine my passion for design, vintage, photography and Rolex. And combining my big passion of making books... Rolex books. Hope to finish one in 2010.

But also making collection books...for real nice collectors. Flying in, 2-3 days of shooting watches, great talks and making real high-end, small numbers private books.  Not commercial productions for bookshops... but books that will lighten the heart of the collector as he can enjoy his collection now every day. But in a very special and cool way. That would be my dream for 2010.

And more... like making real cool T-shirts,.... and more cools stuff. I am missing now.
So much more idea's! Can't wait to start on it.

And my big wish for 2010 is to find some real nice first owner and unpolished watches.
Watches with stories and special character.

But most.. to be able to meet my watch-friends again in 2010. Having more great meetings and talks. As that is what i think of being the highest value in this. The people we meet on the road. And the lessons and knowledge learned during this amazing trip.

So tell us, what are your wishes???
I wish all your dreams for 2010 will become true.

A great gift

Yesterday a great friend gave me this. As a X-Mas gift. Thanks!!! The best. I love Comex pins and this one is really cool.
